MAP OF THE VALLEY

_____

Pale Ranges

A range of large snowy mountains on the further west side of Montana. These mountains must be crossed to return to the East Americas, following the rivers that pass directly through. The journey through is extremely difficult, many settlers barely made it to the valleys alive the first time. For this reason, very few attempt to return to the east.

The mountains are in scarcely inhabited, the weather and terrain proving too dangerous for most humans. It is home sometimes to a western species of harpy and occasionally solitary creatures. Most common non-humans like vampires and werewolves steer clear of this area as well.

_____

New Peaks

New Peaks is the most inhabited city west of the Pale Ranges. It is the first settler's colony ever established back in the earlier 1800s and a booming area for trade and business. Many people of many different backgrounds pass through this city hoping to buy and sell wares.

New Peaks also contains the highest population of vampires because of the high traffic of humans. The town government employs a faction of vampire hunters to try and clear the infestation. Vegan vampires may become licensed to cohabitate, but the process to acquire a license is often long and pricey. Licensed vampires are not usually treated well and receive lesser wages, leading to many vampires to remain anonymous even if vegan.

_____

Wolfreach

Wolfreach is a livestock town nestled between a river and the Pale Ranges. When first established settlers noticed their cattle going missing at alarming rates, soon discovering a colony of werewolves living nearby feeding off the bovine. The town formed an alliance with the pack and has been under the protection of the Freehide pack ever since.

Because of its prime location and extraordinarily high level of werewolves, Wolfreach is considered the safest place to live in the Pale Range valleys. Residents are extremely wary of outsiders and most non-human excluding werewolves.

_____

Rotroost

On the outskirts of the valleys, Rotroost marks the beginnings of the western plains. Rotroost was originally established by a traveling religious cult, hoping to create a permanent place of worship in the valley. A summoning gone awry resulted in the death of over half the population and leaving many remaining feeling betrayed by their god. After The Slaughter, half of the remaining town left make home in the plains or New Peaks. This left Rotroost nearly empty with only the seldom traveler passing through.

The occasional monster from the plains may pass through Rotroost searching for food or shelter such as chupacabras or the rare, elusive naga.

_____

Hellwater

Hellwater is widely known as the most dangerous human town within the valleys. The residence closely neighbors both the deadlands and Hellwater Lake, both home to dangerous non-humans. Hellwater operates as a fishing town, supplying large numbers of fish to neighboring settlements. Residents of this city are known to be resilient for surviving so close to the deadlands. Many of these residents take occupation as monster hunters or fisherman and are highly suspicious of non-humans of any kind.

_____

Deadlands

The deadlands are not inhabited by any human settlements. It is noted for its wide, extensive woodlands and massive population of dangerous non-humans. Many of the monsters that make home here are carnivorous and not capable of being reasoned with. Very few who travel into the deadlands return.

Just south-west of the deadlands is Hellwater Lake. This massive fresh-water lake is home to many species of fish, mer-folk, and allegedly the Hellwater monster.
