Late 1800s Montana, in a universe where fantasy creatures and monsters such as vampires, werewolves, harpies etc. exist in the same plane as humans. America is expanding to the west in light of the rapidly expanding population. Much of the terrain is unexplored and dangerous, but a select number settler groups have made expeditions to establish residence.

However, with the growth of civilization in the East Americas, many non-humans have already made their home in the planes and mountains of the West. Both humans and non-humans struggle to survive the harsh Montana terrain as well as maintain dominion of territories in the valley.

Some towns form contracts and treaties with different species or colonies of non-humans, establishing set areas of ownership. Some towns even cohabitate with particular creatures, while others are more territorial.
